Our Team.

Davida Taurek, LPCC

Founder & Clinical Director, Courageous Counseling Center
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor #6939

Hi, I’m Davida, a Licensed Counselor, and Somatic Psychotherapist.

I know what it's like to suffer loss, experience isolation and trauma, and feel helpless in relationships. Being human is not easy, and reaching out for help can feel overwhelming. I'm here to guide you through the therapy process so you can create the life you want.

Think of me as your ally who will walk with you through this challenging and difficult time. With compassion, insight, and honest communication, we explore the territory of your emotions, behaviors, and limiting patterns and beliefs to help you gain perspective on your life and relationships. This increases your resiliency and capacity to handle life’s stressors and struggles, bringing you more ease, peace, and happiness.

I have extensive experience in the field of counseling, having taught in the Master of Science Counseling Program at Prescott College and directed the Somatic Emphasis. My background includes diverse studies in the creative arts, body-centered therapies, and midwifery. I've taught at Esalen Institute and 1440 Multiversity, and continue to work for Tony Robbins leading 5Rhythms movement meditation and embodiment practices at Unleash the Power Within and Life Mastery events.

Therapy is not something I "do" to you; it is a collaboration and conversation we have together. I look forward to walking beside you as you access a place within that feels more like home. There is no one way to move toward healing. I use an emotionally-focused (EFT), humanistic and somatic understanding while keeping the very human need for attachment and relationship at the heart of our work together. Many clients feel and notice a shift toward increased authenticity, flow, ease and joy in their lives after working together.

I collaborate with individuals and couples using an EFT, psychodynamic, depth and somatic approach. With an extensive background in the arts, movement, and bodywork I feel comfortable synthesizing clinical skills with creative tools which may awaken a place of deep knowing and the ability to self-heal and self-organize. I believe in you.

I draw inspiration from the patterns and rhythms in the natural world to best meet client's needs. I believe each individual is both unique and part of the dynamic collective and I look forward to meeting you. I am committed to meeting you where you are, without judgement, and supporting the authentic expression of your life and journey.

Nolan Ellis, AMFT

Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #138041
Supervised by Davida Taurek, LPCC #6939

Nolan (he/him) graduated from Dominican University of California with his Master’s in Counseling Psychology after spending years working as a college and career counselor within Bay Area high schools supporting under-resourced students' efforts to access higher education and career training opportunities. Nolan is passionate about expanding access to counseling, and believes wholeheartedly that emotional literacy and supportive connections are some of our greatest shared human strengths. He has a particular affinity for exploring the ever-changing landscape of masculinities and loves helping clients learn to tune into and understand their emotional needs and wants.

Growing up in a special effects studio, he witnessed firsthand the magic and freedom that come from being given the space to discover who you wish to be. He believes that stories are the interconnective links that bind us together as people and allows us to become our truest selves. Outside of the Courageous Counseling Center, Nolan also occupies a position at Bay Area Community Resources as a clinician working with elementary, middle, and high school students.

Nolan works with families, individuals (children and adults), and couples, and is accepting new clients for telehealth sessions. (No in-person at this time)

Are you struggling with relationship issues, trapped in the cycle of addiction, or battling an eating disorder? Or maybe you're navigating the path of cult recovery or seeking liberation from a high-control group or religion? What about grappling with work burnout, perfectionism, or the existential dread of climate change? It's also possible everything looks "fine" on the surface but inside you're experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or obsessions and compulsions. Whatever is causing your dis-ease, I'm sorry you're going through this tough time, and I'm so happy that you're here. You are not alone and your pain is valid.

Drawing from my own healing journey as well as 10+ years teaching & practicing yoga, meditation, and improv comedy, I'll guide you in navigating your emotions, connecting deeply with your body and intuition, and finding serenity amidst the chaos of daily life. I'm also honored to help people process lessons from their own plant medicine/psychedelic journeys.

I use an attachment-based, emotion-focused, and embodied approach to therapy (including breathing, mindfulness, and sometimes movement). I serve individual teens (13+) and adults in California mostly via telehealth, with some in-person availability in my Marin office. Please reach out if you feel like I'm the right fit. I look forward to hearing from you!

Together we can make a difference.
